With current regulations and new fuels not being what they were when these cars were produced, you may need your Ruf tuned to keep it running it’s best! You wouldn’t want to damage the engine running 91 octane when it was designed for 98!
Since your Ruf uses Bosch Motronics ecus, we’re able to tune them just like their Porsche Brethren! Some use street ecus, others run racing versions. But they all have crossovers to Porsche.
Protomotive™ uses the tuning process and datalogs to help fine tune your project. As part of the tuning process we analyze your datalogs and send you back charts, plots, explanations and diagnostics to help with errors, misfires, fueling issues, boost issues to be sure you’re tune is perfect for your car. With the ability to tune the ENTIRE range of maps and software, we have many tricks up our sleeve other tuners and methods don’t offer.

When should you have Protomotive™ tune your ecu?
- When you are wanting an Ecu only tune and are looking for Ruf BTR BTR2 CTR CTR2 Tuning. In other words, a totally stock car, or very close to stock that you’re looking for a nice bump in performance.
- Have you installed a lightweight flywheel? Then Protomotive™ can tune your car to take full advantage of your lower inertia and quickened acceleration.
- Have you upgraded or changed your exhaust? We can help there too! Without tuning, the oem ecu can learn and adapt only so much. Protomotive™ can tune your ecu to further enhance your mechanical upgrades.
- Have you done a full build? Who knows how far we can take these… Have you ported the cylinder heads and upgraded your cams? Maybe you’ve Changed your intake manifold? All of these things require proper tuning and that’s why we’re here! Especially on the 959 with a speed density early Motronics system.
- What fuel are you running? These cars were originally intended to run on Euro 98 octane. Open your gas flap sometime and take a look. 91 octane pump gas requires tuning just to make the stock car run right. If you’re running race fuel we can tune to take advantage of the higher octane and slower burning. If you’re going all the way to E85 we love E85! It’s like Heaven to Turbo engines. It burns cool, clean and tunes better than race fuel!

Just by looking at my logs and hearing about my engine rebuild, he's been able to diagnose stuff that in-person mechanics have not been able to.
