Need a little guidance installing your new Protomotive dual Clutch?  Here’s the Proto Dual Clutch Install instructions:

Here’s a quick assembly process.

  1. Have the flywheel with the pilot bearing and ring gear installed (L section facing up as normal lwfw install).
  2. Install the dual clutch housing.  Use pressure plate bolts to be sure holes align.  Lightly tap into place with a wood block.   Or with nothing else on it, bolt the pressure plate to the clutch housing to pull the housing into place on the flywheel.

OuterDiscInstall
  1. Use a Splined alignment tool so the clutch splines are aligned.
  2. Install sachs 764 pplate using OEM t/o bearing and guide tube from 996T/997.1T.
  3. You can use 3 longer bolts to start the pressure plate.  It will ride up a bit on the t/o bearing hitting the center of the disc until you start to pull it down, and the center will pull away from the disc.
  4. Make sure the pressure plate is sitting flat/level.   Start each of the remaining pressure plate bolts making sure it’s pulling down evenly.   Tighten ½ turn at a time in a circular direction until they pull the pressure plate tight.
  5. Torque to 18ftlbs
  6. Flywheel is torqued to standard 63ftlbs, we prefer using Loctite on the flywheel bolts.
  7. Also be sure to check the flywheel sensor for clearance as it tends to be a big loose using the euro RS flywheel.   Set gap to 0.8mm

And finally, the gap between the floater and housing is quite tight.   And sometimes, a brand new install may require just a quick jaunt around the block for everything to start moving smoothly.   Fire the car up, in gear, brakes on, drive it out of the shop.  While in gear, clutch to the floor, blip the throttle a few times which will force the floater back and forth against the housing.  This will free things up and allow everything to move smoothly and properly disengage.
