What cars does this work on?
- 1997-2001 Boxster with M5.2.2 DME (throttle cable cars)
- 1999-2000 996 Carrera with M5.2.2 DME (throttle cable cars)
- Please look for applicable DME part #’s below for this service to be performed.
- This does not work on 996 618 605 00 dme’s which are ME7.2 EThrottle cars.
What is the process for Immobilizer removal?
- The ecus must be shipped to Protomotive to be bench flashed
- This service only requires the ecu to be shipped
- No key or immobilizer required to be sent
- When purchased on the website, the Shipping applies to the return only
- You are responsible for shipping your ecu to Protomotive
- Ship your ecu to: Protomotive Inc. HC 33 Box 40B, Harrison AR 72601
- All cars will require the start relay to be bypasses. You can DIY it by jumping pin 30->87 or get the Porsche immobilizer bypass relay, which is really just a jumper, at Pelican Parts, your local dealer, etc. Click the part #s for a direct link to Pelican Parts 96461018400 964-610-184-00 964 610 184 00 964.610.184.00
- Pull the immobilizer bulb from the instrument cluster.
- Once the ecu is returned and installed, the non-immobilizer start relay is in place and the immobilizer bulb is pulled, you’re good to go!
Can the immobilizer be completely removed?
- For street cars this is not necessary, and removing the immobilizer / alarm control unit will also remove your keyless entry / top functions, trunk lock. So we recommend leaving it in on street cars if those functions still work.
- For race cars the immobilizer and associated wiring can be completely removed, saving weight and complexity
- Please jumper the Kline in / out wires so your dme will no directly talk to the diagnostic port vs. through the immobilizer. that’s Pin 9 and 11 on the immoblizer. W data line and K data line.

I've worked with a bunch of mechanics, tuners, engine builders across multiple Porsches over multiple decades... and Todd has been the most helpful and knowledgeable of the bunch. And this has even been true while working with him remotely! (I'm in CA and he's in AR.) Just by looking at my logs and hearing about my engine rebuild, he's been able to diagnose stuff that in-person mechanics have not been able to. Just search there name with 993 and you can start to get an idea of their storied history of building monster but reliable 911 Turbos!
