1000whp 997.1 turbo build
There’s so many ways to hit 1000whp these days on a 997.1 turbo build, it’s hard to know what works and what doesn’t!  We love our 4.1 builds for huge power at lower boost. For those that want to stay 3.6, stock intake and a simpler install, this kit is for you! Check out the attached dyno sheet showing 1000 whp and 910 ftlbs of torque at the tires on our Dynapack 4500 4wd Chassis Dyno!
What’s in it?
Using Protomotive’s Xpipe exhaust, intercoolers, ypipe, plenum, injectors, fuel pump upgrade, tuning, rods, headstuds, dual clutch, TiAl Xona XR1100s, and a greddy you’re off to the races!
When selecting products, be sure to add two billet blow off valves.
For a full build there will also be main bearings, rod bearings, intermediate shaft bearings, chains, ramps, plugs, coils, fluids and depending on the miles of the engine possibly headwork required (valve job), piston rings, and other maintenance items.
What fuel is required?
This particular build ran E85. Optionally you can run pump/meth or ms109 at the higher boost levels while straight pump fuel is fine at the lower boost settings. We have dual fuel ecu upgrades available for changing from pump to e85 at the flip of a switch. Check it out here.
Who can build this for me?
We’d be happy to build it here at Protomotive with full dyno test and tune.  You can also choose to have your own shop build it using Protomotive’s machining services, or even DIY it!
Can I make 1000whp on my 997 Turbo without an engine build?
Well, you can, but it won’t last but a few pulls. But don’t be disappointed if you love this Porsche 997 turbo kit, but don’t want to build right now. This kit works amazing for bolt-on just as well. We will limit the torque to keep the heads on and rods straight till you get the chance to build it and turn up the power! With a cockpit adjustable boost control you’re able to dial the boost back to a very nice safety margin for your bolt-on application.  Then you can just lay back and dream about the built engine power you’ll soon have! To purchase those products, simply select all of the top items and stop when you get to the internal engine parts.
What if I want more power? Are there any other options?
Of course there are! We’re Protomotive!  We’ll be happy to put together custom packages for you. 1200, 1300, 1500whp?  What would you like 🙂 There are just so many options available it’s hard to present them all in a web format. give us a call or shoot us an email and let’s have some fun!

I've worked with a bunch of mechanics, tuners, engine builders across multiple Porsches over multiple decades... and Todd has been the most helpful and knowledgeable of the bunch. And this has even been true while working with him remotely! (I'm in CA and he's in AR.) Just by looking at my logs and hearing about my engine rebuild, he's been able to diagnose stuff that in-person mechanics have not been able to. For example, Todd was the only person looking at my car to suggest a problem with a BRV could explain some of the weird behavior... following his advice, I dug in myself... lo and behold, torn BRV diaphragm on bank 1! Wow! Further, Todd has the most experience tuning these cars of any tuner I've worked with. Tune is absolutely solid and safe. Very very confident in his work!!! Absolute strongest possible recommendation!!

Adam McGregor2023-04-05I don’t think there is a better shop to shop entrust your Porsche to then Protomotive and the Knighton’s. Just search there name with 993 and you can start to get an idea of their storied history of building monster but reliable 911 Turbos! I have over 12 years and 30k miles (street, autox & track) on the Protomotive set up on my 997tt and it has never skipped a beat!
